Acording to a survey for the„Atlas of Cluj breeding birds”, conducted in 2014, the Kestrel was observed at 24 locations in the city, during April 15th - June 15th.
Due to the fact that these months represent the main reproduction period of this species and many of the birds have showed breeding behavior, we can assume that there are around 15-20 pairs in the city. Same as the other falcons, the kestrels don’t build nests, they lay their eggs in cavities of buildings or they occupy the nests of other birds, such as corvids.
